"Hybrid Kate" (2012) by Dinorah Delfin
HYBRID KATE - 3D Painting by Dinorah Delfin
HYBRID KATE is a multidimensional portrait of supermodel Kate Moss that fuses classical portraiture with digital abstraction. Executed in Dinorah Delfin’s signature pixelated 3D style painting, the piece presents Moss’s face as a fragmented mosaic of elevated cubes—each “pixel” functioning as both a sculptural element and a brushstroke. The image oscillates between figuration and abstraction, revealing a cohesive likeness of Moss only when viewed from a distance or through a lens, inviting an interactive experience of perception.
Inspired by Delfin’s own inclusion in Chuck Close’s daguerreotype series after he photographed Moss, HYBRID KATE reflects on beauty, celebrity, and the interplay between analog and digital identities.
